Environmental Specialist (Morgantown)

Description:The Environmental Specialist has overall responsibility to insure the success of clients and projects of the Energy Division assigned to him and for the continued growth and for his/her continued growth and development.

This position closely interacts with clients and staff to insure total client satisfaction is obtained while meeting financial goals set for each project.
Duties:Essential Job Functions:
• Promote, utilize and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverable and reduce design errors and omissions thereby resulting in a reduction in claims
• Continually evaluate workload and collaborate with his reporting Environmental Project Coordinator to insure appropriate staffing is supplied at the right level of expertise to successfully complete each task assignment
• Maintain professional certification in field of expertise, Professional Wetland Scientist License and DCNR Plant Collector License or other as directed by his Environmental Project Coordinator
• Prepare project scope and fees as required
• Provide overall daily technical oversight and management to assigned projects
• Complete wetland delineations for companywide projects as directed
• Preparation and submission of environmental permitting for assigned projects as directed and supervised by the Environmental Project Coordinator
• Complete environmental site assessments and functional analysis as directed
• Complete ecological surveys as directed
• Prepare wetland mitigation plans and conduct wetland monitoring as directed
• Provide coordination with state and federal agencies as required
• Prepare and /or review reports, calculations, technical papers, presentations, etc relative to area of concentration as directed
• Promote knowledge leadership development amongst self and staff

Secondary Job Functions:

• Be knowledgeable of current oil and gas regulations in geographic region of responsibilities.
• Actively participate in client development activities, as directed by the Environmental Project Coordinator
Qualifications:• MINIMUM EDUCATION – Associate’s degree in related field of study
• DESIRED EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science or Biology
• MINIMUM CERTIFICATION – Certification/Registration such as P.G., CHMM. PMP, P.E., Certified Ecologist/Biologist/Wetland Scientist, etc
• MINIMUM SYSTEMS OR PROGRAM NEEDS/EXPERIENCE – Intermediate level of knowledge with Microsoft Office products, intermediate level of knowledge with Deltek Vision, advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD and design software used by self and subordinates
• MINIMUM EQUIVALENT WORKING EXPERIENCE IN YEARS – 1+
• DESIRED EQUIVALENT WORKING EXPERIENCE IN YEARS – 3+
• TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS – Occasional to frequent overnight or extended stays.

• Ability to think independently and as part of a Project Team
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies and other external sources in a professional manner.
• Must have experience managing multi-disciplinary projects involving both natural resource and engineering tasks
• Must have excellent knowledge and experience of permitting and regulatory requirements relative to oil & gas in PA, WV and OH
• Must have permitting experience with other regulatory agencies such as EPA, ACOE, USFW, FERC, OSHA, PUC, DOT
• Must have Broad skills in wetlands, Threatened and Endangered Species, Environmental Compliance, Due Diligence, Environmental Compliance, Environmental Monitoring, Environmental Impact Assessment, etc.


Physical Demands/Working Requirements

• Occasional to frequent lifting, walking, standing, reaching and use of hands as typically found in a field or office environment.
• Frequently working in a field environment, must be able to work in all kinds of climates, weather conditions, environmental conditions and other conditions regularly found in the field.
